Proposed Amendments to the Constitution and Byelaws

I. Nomination of Officers and Executive Councilors

Byelaw 5. Procedure for the Nomination of Officers and Council Members

(Changes for purposes of facilitating administration are proposed to change the time of posting at the Business Meeting.)

5(c) All valid nominations … are received. The nominations of the Nominating Committee shall be posted there at least 48 hours before the Business Meeting.

5(d) The nomination lists will be closed at 2:00 p.m. on the day before the Business Meeting.

II. Application of a Provisional Society for full Component Society status

Article 6(a)(ii). Component Society and Federation of Component Societies

(It is recommended applications for such change of status be in hand at least six months before the next Business Meeting.)

Starting with the last seven lines:

Admission to Component Society status shall be … submitted to the Council. An application by a Provisional Society for full Component Society status shall have been received by the Secretary of the Association at least six months before the date of the Business Meeting. On receipt of this application a Site Visit Committee will be appointed to visit the Provisional Society and to report back to the Council at its meeting immediately preceding the Business Meeting. Admission to full Component Society status shall be by majority vote of a Business Meeting on recommendation of the Council.

III. Responsibilities of a Provisional Society regarding training

Article 6(a)(iii). Provisional Society

(It is recommended that authorization of a Provisional Society to establish training facilities be modified to conform to the criteria established for a Component Society.)

Second paragraph:

A Provisional Society is recognized as an organization authorized to train and to qualify students for the practice of clinical psychoanalysis. A report of such training activities shall be submitted … Meeting accordingly.
