The International Journal of Psychoanalysis on PEP-Web
The International Journal of Psychoanalysis (IJP) and IJP Open are both available on PEP-Web. This page provides everything IJP subscribers need to access content, manage their subscription, and engage with the wider psychoanalytic community through PEP-Web's IJP-related features.
Accessing the IJP on PEP-Web
The IJP is accessed through PEP-Web using a PEP account username and password. Subscribers to the IJP have access to the complete IJP catalogue on PEP-Web. IJP Open: Open Peer Review and Debate
IJP Open is an online format available on PEP-Web that allows the peer-review process of articles submitted to the IJP to be followed and engaged with by the wider psychoanalytic community. Working papers are published during the review stage, together with rounds of reviews, decision letters, and author replies, creating an ongoing public discussion until a final editorial decision is reached.
Key features of IJP Open include:
- Open access: Anyone can register for free to view, download, and comment on working papers.
- Speed: Papers are made available on IJP Open as soon as the editors deem a submission promising. Papers are indexed in PEP-Web and searchable by both subscribers and non-subscribers.
- Transparency: The traditional peer review process is supplemented by an open and visible exchange. All formal review communication (except rejection letters) appears in the comment thread.
- Multilingual discussion: Working papers appear in the language of submission — English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, or German — and readers may comment in any of these languages.
- Real-time participation: Authors, readers, and reviewers can respond to one another's comments until a final decision is reached or the author decides not to resubmit.
Please note that IJP Open papers are working papers and do not constitute final published articles. A watermark is added to all IJP Open papers to make this clear. Authors may also choose to submit anonymously.
IJP Zoom Study Meetings
IJP subscribers can register for IJP Zoom Study Meetings through PaDS. Non-subscribers can register via the IJP Eventbrite page.
IJP Study Meetings are a dedicated forum for discussing recently published papers from the International Journal of Psychoanalysis. Three times a year, the IJP hosts two-hour long sessions, held remotely via Zoom, where clinicians and subscribers alike can engage deeply with contemporary psychoanalytic research. Each session features a presentation by the paper’s author, followed by discussion with two esteemed psychoanalysts from the international community, ensuring diverse perspectives and rich dialogue.
