This is the first attempt on the part of a psychologist to present a positivist approach to interpretation in psychology as well as in other areas on a scientific basis. The process of interpretation is analyzed as identical with that of cognition and thought in general. The author concedes at the very end that the personal element of “style” differentiates the mediocre from the brilliant application of interpretation. The book is written in a highly abstract and somewhat schematic style.
