Natural-Born Deviants: The Existential Escapades of Sex Tech

Professor, clinical psychologist, and psychoanalyst. After 22 years as a professor at Long Island University, she is currently faculty and supervisor at New York University's Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis and Adelphi University's Postgraduate Programs. She has published ten books and dozens of articles on the topics of art and creativity, trauma and psychosis, and gender and sexuality. Recently, she has turned her interests to the psychoanalytic understanding of the creation and effects of advanced technology and artificial intelligence on human identity, sexuality, and relationships. This is the focus in her books (with Rocco Lo Bosco) The Age of Perversion: Desire and Technology in Psychoanalysis and Culture (Routledge, 2017) and The New Sexual Landscape and Contemporary Psychoanalysis (Confer Press, 2020). Her latest book (with Michael Selzer) is From Breakdown to Breakthrough: Psychoanalytic Treatment of Psychosis (Routledge, 2024). Dr. Knafo maintains a private practice in Manhattan and Great Neck, NY.

Writer and autodidact. In collaboration with Danielle Knafo, he co-authored The Age of Perversion: Desire and Technology in Psychoanalysis and Culture (Routledge, 2017) and The New Sexual Landscape and Contemporary Psychoanalysis (Confer Press, 2020). Lo Bosco's literary contributions extend to two novels, Buddha Wept (Grey Core Press, 2003) and Ninety-Nine (LettersAt3amPress, 2015), as well as a nonfiction work titled Staying Sane in Crazy Town: A Monologue of Rude Wisdom (Waldorf, 2019). In addition to his creative pursuits, Lo Bosco provided critical feedback and served as a technical editor for a groundbreaking paper authored by Jolly Mathen. The paper, titled “On the Inherent Incompleteness of Scientific Theories,” was presented at Oxford University and Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, and published in Activitas Nervosa Superior.
