The third year of operation of the new six-year program has further affirmed its values. Candidate applicants have come to the Institute clearer about what they may expect, and matriculants have arranged their total life program in more thoughtful and considered ways to keep pace with, and take full advantage of their training. The resulting atmosphere of purposiveness and directedness has also constructively influenced the attitudes of candidates who started their training prior to this new arrangement. A larger number of all candidates are now both participating in the treatment program of the Karen Horney Clinic and attending its scientific meetings.
The faculty advisor system, now in its sixth year, has proved its helpfulness to all candidates and has effected the necessary clear separation of the adminisstrative aspects of the training from that relating to courses, supervision, and particularly to the personal analysis.
