The Candidates Association held all of its meetings after classes at the Institute in the well-appointed and comfortable library of the Karen Horney Clinic building. Our continuing favorable treasury balance enabled us, in what has by now become our custom, to contribute to the financing of the Karen Horney Memorial Dinner. Furthermore, we have been able to continue the practice of mailing the minutes of every meeting to each candidate. The purpose of this mailing is to keep us all constantly in touch with the activities of the Association. However, this method of inclusion of news, minutiae and information of interest to candidates has been discontinued in favor of a new policy by which this material is being embodied as a part of the “Combined Newsletter.” To this end, we have set up the office of Contributing Editor to the “Newsletter”; Dr. Friedman was elected to this post.
Business aspects of our organization were handled by the officers acting as an Executive Committee. No new committees were formed. In midyear, a new Secretary was elected to replace a candidate who left the Institute.
The annual pilgrimage to picnic table, barbecue spit, and swimming hole, took place on Father's Day at Stony Lodge. The hosts were generous, the weather fine and the turnout excellent, over one hundred persons of all ages disporting themselves happily in the sun.
At this point, we would like to congratulate Drs. Helen de Rosis, Drs. Andrew Ruotolo, Sidney Rosen and Theodore Rubin on their graduation and certification from the Institute. Finally, I wish to extend to the President-elect, Dr. Boris Heller, and to his administration, my warmest hopes for a successful 1964-1965 academic year.
