The activities of the Candidates Association centered around two events during the past year; one was social, the other scientific. In November, 1964, a festive dinner was held at the Sheraton Motor Inn honoring the recent graduates of the American Institute who had received their diplomas at the Dean's reception in September. Each of the graduates, Drs. Helen DeRosis, Theodore Rubin, Sidney Rosen, and Andrew Rutolo gave informal talks reviewing his feelings during the years of work and study at the Institute. At this time there was also an opportunity for an exchange of views concerning suggestions for improvement in the course of training and in the relationship between the senior and junior candidates.
In May, a scientific meeting was held in the auditorium of the Horney Clinic. The speaker was Dr. Ferrucio DiCori, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the State University of New York, Downstate. Dr. DiCori, who is a well-known authority on the theater, discussed “The Theater of the Absurd and Its Psychoanalytic Implications.” An interesting and fruitful discussion followed.
The Candidates Association is looking forward to the coming year and eagerly awaits the celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the founding of our Institute. Dr. Michael Wainston has been elected to serve as President during the coming year, and we anticipate a year of constructive growth under his leadership.
