The Candidate's Association has completed an active year of scientific and legislative work as well as social events. Working with a new Constitution, completed last year, which allowed more flexibility and efficiency, and with a dedicated and innovative Executive along with energetic Committee chairmen, we accomplished the following:
The format of the monthly meeting was changed to limit the time allotted for business. Through the Executive and Committee chairmen, most of the routine business was conducted prior to the regular meetings to allow time for stimulating scientific presentations by Candidates and guests on such topics as “The Hindu Gita and Psychoanalysis,” “Use of Hypnosis in Psychoanalysis,” “Homosexuality,” and “Recourse to Violence in Our Times.” In addition to arranging these presentations the Program Committee, chaired by Dr. E. Yachnes, arranged a Sunday afternoon social gathering to hear Dr. Bella Van Bark and Dr. Alan Miller discuss a psychoanalytical exploration of the film and book Rachel, Rachel.
The Association is aware of the necessity for active student involvement in determining courses of study and high-quality teaching
