The Karen Horney Clinic continues its various and vital programs of treatment. Further services are being provided to candidates-in-training and to graduates. As in the past, we are fulfilling the requirements of high standards of psychoanalytic work while offering the community a variety of services. Pilot projects, research and supervision of the medical staff remain a part of our ongoing programs.
Our basic therapeutic approach is psychoanalysis. In addition we offer psychoanalytically-oriented treatment for groups, families, the retarded, married couples, creative people, those with homosexual problems, the aged, the obese, adolescents and schizophrenics.
The professional staff of the Clinic now totals eighty-six. This includes sixty-six psychiatrists, nine full-time social workers, six trainees from Hunter College and Columbia University, one psychologist and two registered nurses, one of whom is doing her field placement work in the Day Care Center for her Masters program at Adelphi University, one recreational therapist, and one occupational therapist. Volunteers assist in the work of the Day Care Center program.
