Since the last annual meeting on April 8, 1970, the Faculty Council has met 21 times and held one Faculty Meeting. Our Charter has been reapproved for the period beginning April 18, 1971 to April 18, 1976.
Our curriculum as outlined was adequately fulfilled for the Senior, Junior, New School and Orientation courses. This year, the ongoing seminars on a variety of psychiatric subjects offered to the non-psychiatric physician was a success. At least 20-25 registrants were present at each evening. Much credit goes to Dr. Jason Miller who spent a good deal of time, energy and effort in setting up the program. He has presented a somewhat more intensive program for the coming year. Many graduates are participating in this course. The American Academy of General Practice has again extended recognition of these courses for credit.
Since last year we have graduated six candidates who fulfilled their course in training: Drs. Marie R. Badaracco Apolito, Herbert Holt, Jennie Maucerie, Alan G. Miller, Jack Schnee and Andrew Tershakovec. Dr. Louis Landman was appointed a training analyst, and Drs. Louis R. Hott and Jack L. Rubins as supervising analysts.
The Dean's Reception was held on the last Sunday of September in our own Clinic building. It was considered by many to be one of the most successful, friedliest and warmest reception yet.
Since the very life of the Institute depends on the continued flow of new candidates, several events have occurred to assure our continued growth and development. The Clinic is giving the Institute $ 10,000 a year, to be designated as the Scholarship-Fellowship Fund for five resident candidates a year. This amount will go far to defray any deficit spending such as the Institute has been obliged to go into over the last few years. We have had an unexpected windfall of $6,000 from the estate of Mrs. Helen Arnold through the intercession of one of our candidates, Dr. Nolan J. Marx.
