Lewis Wolberg is a remarkably prolific writer on psychiatric subjects. He has a vast amount of experience in the training of clinicians, especially psychoanalysts. Not the least of this experience comes from his being the Founder of the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. He set up this clinic in 1945, and it is now the largest unit of its kind in this country. Dr. Wolberg is an analyst with an eclectic viewpoint. He is familiar with all of the treatment methods in common use clinically.
The book is intended as an aid to students who are being trained to use psychotherapeutic treatments. The format is one of questions and answers, which leads to conciseness and better understanding. There is a short discussion at the beginning of each chapter which subsumes the contents. Furthermore, the chapters are arranged so as to cover all of the most important aspects of psychotherapy, a broad spectrum indeed.
