This book is written by a husband and wife team. Dr. Brooks is a urologist and a surgeon practicing in California. The book appeals especially to the educated lay person. It is a compact discourse on the subject of impotence in the male. More sophisticated professional persons will probably skim over the introductory chapters.
In the past, there has been an inordinately high failure rate in the treatment of impotent males. It has been estimated that about half of all cases are due to various organic causes, the other half being ascribed to psychological causation. If this estimate is correct, then it becomes of paramount importance to make a proper diagnosis. If the people who suffer from physical diseases are treated solely by psychological means, they will certainly improve their feeling states, but they will be treatment failures.
