Dr. B. Bohden Wassell was a member of the American Institute for Psychoanalysis and the Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis for nearly forty years, as a teacher, lecturer, writer, and devoted analyst. Those of us who had the opportunity of working with Dr. Wassell experienced the unique quality of his wisdom and his compassion. They were wonderfully blended with humor and a joy for life. Dedicated to the well-being and growth of his patients, he was always searching for ways to expedite that growth. For him, Karen Horney's theory of neurosis went far beyond theory; it was vital and could be contemplated, taught, and applied. A most important gift to his students was his playfulness, his capacity to laugh, and his ability to stimulate new thoughts. We extend our sympathy to his wife and children. He will be deeply missed.
