She is Academic Co-ordinator of the Play Therapy Certificate Program at University of California, San Diego, Division of Extended Studies, and is past president of the California Association for Play Therapy. She became an Art Therapist, Registered, in 1977, and worked in community mental health agencies until 1984. Since then, she has worked in private practice and provides university and continuing education classes in family violence, child psychopathology and therapy, play therapy, and art therapy. She has developed an object relations model for resolution of trauma with abused children, using play, art, and other expressive therapies. Since 1998, she has acquired expertise in the treatment of dissociative disorders and severe trauma, particularly victims of ritual abuse and mind control.
