After over nine years of Jungian analysis, Grace was shocked to discover repressed memories of sexual abuse surfacing shortly after commencing psychotherapy. The focus on the body, and a relational positioning, are believed to have contributed to this emergent biography, which illuminated for Grace many of the ways she protected herself through dissociation and sexualizing relationships. Co-written by psychotherapist and client (a psychotherapist herself), this paper illustrates some clinical applications of relational body-psychotherapy and explores issues of touch, intimacy, regression, and influence. Moreover, this case material presents a psychotherapeutic dialogue with surrender: surrender to the edge of love, to the charge of erotic transference, and to an intersubjective third, which threatens to touch and change both parties deeper than they intended it to.
