The subject of death, loss, and psychotherapy for people with learning disabilities is addressed through a review of two new books on this subject, plus a newly revised edition, focusing on psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Dr Valerie Sinason's book, the most well known of the three and now considered a classic in the field, is mainly based on her clinical work as a psychotherapist. Dr Irene Tuffrey-Wijne's book follows a group of people with learning disabilities with cancer through their trials and tribulations within the National Health Service. Robin Grey's book is the result of his practical experience working as a counsellor with people with learning disabilities who are suffering with grief. Each book challenges organizations to develop appropriate services for people with learning disabilities.
