Welcome to the “Siblings” issue. I have no doubt that this will prove to be as equally successful as the “Fathers” issue where my journey began. Sadly, I have taken the decision to step down as editor-in-chief and this will be where my editorial journey ends. This has not been an easy decision but I have reached a phase in life where the need to pursue other self-interests are well overdue. Endings are always painful, however, unusually for the world of attachment, it feels wonderful to end on a high and not a rupture.
Throughout the last two and a half years I have thoroughly enjoyed this role. I received much praise for my inaugural “Fathers” issue and I hope my time will end on an equally engaging and inspiring “Siblings” issue. In between I was honoured to have both Professor Peter Fonagy and Professor Brett Kahr support me in marking the sad passing of the late Professor Mary Main. Throughout, I have also had the privilege of reading/editing all the wonderful contributions from authors around the world. Thank you all for your contributions. I also leave you with what I believe to be the most academically successful element of my contribution, which was the introduction of the formal peer review status. I hope new members continue to take this forward.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my wonderful journal team, Mr Wayne Davis and Ms Kate Brown, for all their hard work and also extend this to our colleagues at Karnac, Ms Kate Pearce, Ms Anita Mason, and Mr Fernando Marques. This team have been excellent to work with. I would also like to thank Ms Victoria Settle, Mr Gordon Alderson and Ms Lindy Cundy for all their support.
Finally, I want to offer my deepest gratitude to Wayne who I worked the closest with. I could not have produced this journal without him. Thank you Wayne for being part of this journey and making it so worthwhile.
