This article provides compelling therapeutic evidence of how infantile “body memory” can be active in later adult life. A crippling anxiety in an adult woman in her sixties was found to be the result of being left to cry as a baby by a one evening-a-week babysitter. Drawing on Matte Blanco's concept of infinite sets (1975) this article illustrates the way time works in the unconscious. It also shows the damage caused by leaving a baby to cry. A personal example also illustrates how infantile “body memory” works.
