The Covid pandemic is a hard test for analysts, obliging them for the most part to work remotely. The emergency solution preserves the continuity of the cure, thanks to the feeling of reciprocal loss and solidarity between analysts and patients. At the same time, it has become evident that the constant state of emergency in which the entire world is living represents a threat for psychoanalysis. Social distancing, which has been dominating our life for so long, co-produces along with a closing up in relation to others (facilitated by the fear of the infection) a mistrust of erotic, emotional, mental involvement: a fear of psychic contagion which spreads among us like a psychic virus. Analysts have a great responsibility for dealing with a process of desertification of relationships that transforms solitude into loneliness.
KEY WORDS: Involvement, solitude, loneliness, virus.
