INTRODUCTION. Psychoanalysis for Neuroscience: how Psychoanalysis can contribute to the Neurosciences. The contributions present in this monographic issue of the Rivista di Psicoanalisi, collect above all the results of the efforts that, with passion and curiosity, many psychoanalysts of the Società Psicoanalitica Italiana [Italian Psychoanalytic Society] (SPI), for many years, have put at the service of those interested in the weaving of a desirable discussion between Psychoanalysis and Neuroscience. These contributions are complemented by others from scholars who have long delved into the same topic and who are in dialogue with the SPI. Topics such as the definition of the object of interdisciplinary research, the status of Psychoanalysis as a science, consciousness, the unconscious, dreams, the Self, the complexity of reality, memory, defenses, dissociation, trauma, the Peri-Personal Space, the psyche as an autopoietic system, are but a few of the topics discussed, testifying to the cultural vivacity of our Society.
KEY WORDS: Culture, physics, neuroscience, plasticity, psychoanalysis, Società Psicoanalitica Italiana (SPI).
