In the Presidential Address entitled "The Present Status of Organized Psychoanalysis in the United States," by Robert P. Knight, M.D., which appeared in Volume I, Number 2, 1953 of the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, reference was made to the fact that the Detroit Psychoanalytic Institute was established in 1940. This is an error. It was established in 1947. From 1940 to 1947 a Detroit Training Center existed under the supervision of the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis.
