At the Freud Centenary Celebration held in Chicago in May, 1956 regrets were frequently expressed that some way could not be found to preserve a record of the events. It seems impossible for the printed word to recapture and to retain the spirit which prevalied at that celebration as well as at other celebrations throughout the world. However, we have decided to make the attempt in the hope of at least approximating this. Perhaps the pages that follow will serve to rekindle the warmth and the excitement experienced by those who participated in the Freud Centenary Celebratons and will convey these feelings to those who did not have the opportunity to participate.
