A woman who had never been able to accept her lack of a penis had two dreams, during a period of life experiences which intensified her greed, her envy, and her feelings of deprivation. In the dreams, the maternal breast (penis) was represented by a dream screen equivalent: a pane of glass. These dreams were followed by a clinical elation.
This sequence of events confirms Lewin's hypothesis according to which elation may be understood as the repetition of a childhood dream. No clinical confirmation of this view has heretofore been reported.
