The dream material from the analysis of an adolescent boy is presented in connection with other clinical data to demonstrate the use of dreams in leading to a discussion of masturbation and masturbation fantasies. From the dreams, clues regarding the form of the masturbation and the content of the masturbation fantasies were obtained. This assisted in the analysis of the masturbation and the elucidation of important methods of control and discharge of tension in this boy. In turn, these were related to particular behavior patterns symptomatic of his disturbance. In addition, attention is drawn to the element of motion, specifically riding, in the manifest content of dreams as a reference to masturbation. It is suggested that such dreams are included in a group of typical dreams incompletely described by Freud.
