The paper, a delayed "postscript" to an earlier communication, The Psychoanalytic Situation: An Examination of Its Development and Essential Nature, seeks to reiterate, in some instances amplify, toward further clarification, certain underlying dynamic constructs of the original work, with special reference to the pervasive functions of transference. There are further comments, in good part of clinical nature, on the transference neurosis and transference interpretation. In the interest of space economy, at this time, there is minimal condensed response to selected criticisms or misunderstandings of the clinical implications of the earlier work. The subject of comparison and possible integration with germane contributions of recent years is largely deferred. In the sense of "further reflection" by the author, two subjects are discussed: (i) transference object and object representation, and (ii) the interplay of past and present, and the role of illusion.
