The author draws attention to the emergence in analysis of certain affective reactions, i.e., mood changes, which appear to be triggered by the specific external situation of dusk. On analytic scrutiny, these types of moods—precipitated by a perceptive and cognitive process—can be understood as ego states reflecting or reviving earlier ego experiences which once were cathected with libidinal and aggressive energy. The analysis of these mood changes often yields highly pertinent data and repressed, depressively tinged early memories.
