We have continued the study of the psychoanalytic theory of anxiety, taking up contributions since "Inhibitions, Symptoms and Anxiety" in 1926, exclusive of Freud's work. The same method of dissection of theories is continued, with special attention paid to the observational and theoretical bases and elaborations of the concept of energic anxiety, as well as alternatives to this concept. Both Freud's work and later contributions are summarized. Conclusions are concerned with the methodology of the psychoanalytic study of anxiety.
