The ever-increasing concern with psychoanalytic education by the American Psychoanalytic Association is attested to by the extensive activities of the Board on Professional Standards. Upon completion of his term as Chairman of the Committee on Institutes, Dr. Sylvan Keiser presented a report whose implications were felt to be of significance for the membership of the Association. Furthermore, the self-scrutiny, which is one of the many functions of the Committee on Psychoanalytic Education, culminated in a panel surveying its work for the past 10 years, with a look ahead into the future suggesting some directions which psychoanalytic education might take in the light of its own experiences, as well as the changing scene of psychoanalytic education in general. All of this, together with an article on assessing the analyzability of potential patients for candidates undergoing supervision, a procedure in which the candidates participated, led the Editorial Board to suggest a section on Psychoanalytic Education incorporating these contributions.
