I am grateful to Dr. Bronheim for his support in the application of psychoanalytic conceptualizations to international relations, and for bringing up certain issues for further exploration.
Dr. Bronheim refers to the asymmetrical regression of national groups, and the concept of "mature nations" protecting "innocent" ones, in an analogy of parents protecting children. Since the publication of my paper in this Journal in 1987, I have published a book on my observations and experiences with ethnic or international interaction,
