The Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association is proud to announce an exciting new venture, JAPA Books. This book series is intended to fill the gap left by the growing preference among publishing houses for books aimed primarily at the broader field of mental health professionals. We at JAPA believe there is a need for specifically psychoanalytic books that will address the clinical and scientific interests of our readers. Our unique position allows us to publish only the most outstanding books in the field, while also looking for the unknown author or creative gem. Further, we are planning a series of controversial debates among the leading clinical authors of our time, in a format that will allow readers to compare and contrast clinical techniques, approaches, and concepts in a detailed fashion. Many of us feel the need to understand the essentials of how psychoanalysts from different theoretical perspectives work, as demonstrated in detailed clinical material. The controversial debates will address this need for a comparative psychoanalysis.
The book series will bear the dual imprint of JAPA and the Other Press, a dynamic book publisher new to psychoanalysis. We are impressed with the latter's keen interest in promoting JAPA Books, and with its staff's considerable knowledge of our field.
We are pleased to announce also that Fred Busch has agreed to be the editor of JAPA Books. He is known to all of us as a widely published author and respected colleague. His dedication to making JAPA Books a reality was instrumental in its formation.
Authors interested in submitting manuscripts are invited to send them to Fred Busch, Ph. D., Editor, JAPA Books. His address until May 15, 2000, is 410 Orchard Hills Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. After that date it will be 246 Eliot Street, Brookline, MA 02167. Manuscripts should meet the guidelines for submissions to JAPA (see inside cover), including the requirement that five copies be submitted. Length restrictions and the b
