Having completed my first year as editor of JAPA, I am more appreciative than ever of the people of the journal. Their hard work, imagination, and teamwork make turning out JAPA both a privilege and a pleasure.
We have moved the JAPA office to Atlanta and have gone paperless (almost). Thanks to the prodigious talents of Lynn Cullen, our editorial assistant, this has all seemed (to the outside) effortless. Her warmth and grace facilitate our editorial work in ways the board and I observe with wonder. Our first-ever managing editor, Marilyn Herleth, oversees JAPA operations with firm control, infectious humor, and New York grit. I have been lucky enough to have persuaded the former associate editors to stay on, which has maintained quality and eased my worries.
We say good-bye to seven outgoing board members, Maurice Apprey, Linda Brakel, Henry Evans, Richard Gottlieb, Linda Mayes, Joy Osofsky, and Ellen Rees, and trust that they have gained as much as they have contributed. We will miss them and hope that they look forward to serving again in the future. Welcome to new board members J. Stuart Ablon, Richard Almond, Anne Erreich, Nathan Kravis, DonaldMoss, Shelley Orgel, and Steven Roose. They bring to JAPA a wealth of skills, knowledge, and broad experience, essential as we reach out to adjacent disciplines for the kind of dialogue that will enrich psychoanalysis as part of the vibrant intellectual climate of our times.
