JAPA is pleased to announce a new annual prize to recognize significant contributions to the journal by new authors. The New Author Prize will be awarded for the best published manuscript by a new author, and will include a $500 honorarium to be presented at the Winter Meetings of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
A new author will be considered someone who has not previously published in JAPA or any other major psychoanalytic journal and whose psychoanalytic career is in its early stages. The editor will establish a mentoring/editorial group to review submissions by new authors and assist in developing manuscripts for publication in JAPA.
Manuscripts must be submitted via the usual JAPA submission process using the online system accessed at mc.manuscriptcentral.com. At the time of submission, an author may indicate in the cover letter that the manuscript is to be considered for the New Author Prize, and may ask that the paper be directed to the mentoring/editorial group for assistance in manuscript development. Final decision about publication will remain with the editorial board and the editor-in-chief, as will the decision about selecting the annual prize-winning paper.
