As coeditors of JAPA Review of Books since 2004, we regularly find ourselves filled with gratitude and admiration for the work of all our reviewers, for their avid reading, their appetitive attitude to all things psychoanalytic, and their dedication to writing and to sharing their opinions, enthusiasms, and critiques with our readership. They cheerfully (for the most part) put up with our input, our stylistic idiosyncratic quirks, our questions, comments, and back-and-forth, and finally our need for finishing details on their manuscripts. We greatly enjoy working with the texts of our reviewers, both those who have been invited and those who have volunteered.
Leon Hoffman has been an outstanding contributor to our section, as you can see from the list below, in the quantity and quality of his many reviews over the years from before we assumed our editorial positions. We personally rely on him to keep us updated on the interface between psychiatry and psychoanalysis, including empirical studies, work with both children and adults, and efforts in teaching, learning, and stretching our field in this interdisciplinary area. His reviews invariably draw compliments from our readers for how lucidly and succinctly he can frame whatever theoretical or clinical discussion is the subject of inquiry. Many have stressed how extremely helpful they find his work and how it has provided a guide to the important books he chooses to attend to. We believe it is time to offer Leon a special thank you from us, and on behalf of many of our readers.
