As the title suggests, we publish items in this section of the Journal that address issues of importance in psychoanalysis: letters to the editor, brief case reports, notice of meetings, and items that analysts feel should be brought to the attention of our readership. This time, we include three very different commentaries. One, by Alan Felix, M.D., a spontaneous dissertation on 9/11, after facilitating a very emotional gathering of analysts called to discuss the tragedy and returning home to care for his son, second, some observations by Peter Olsson on cults, cult leaders, and cult followers and third, Bruce Sklarew's reflections on the 9/11 follow-up at the meeting in Philadelphia. Peter Olsson has a book in preparation on cults based on hundreds of hours of analysis and scholarly writing on the Jonestown Massacre. He presents his material somewhat like a journalist would, highlighting a number of matters of importance to our profession and to the field of applied psychoanalytic studies.
