This Terminal Profile is based on material from the first referral and Diagnostic Profile, and from the second analysis.
Carlos was seen four times a week in his second analysis; the mother was seen approximately once a month.
The first referral was made by Mrs A. who wrote a detailed letter to the Clinic describing parental difficulties and her long-standing anxiety about Carlos. She had been advised to contact the Clinic by a mother whose child had been in treatment.
Mrs A. linked the onset of Carlos’ difficulties to a time when she was acutely disturbed and depressed following the accidental death of her parents. He was eighteen months at that time, and mother felt he became very aggressive to her. At the same time father became very aggressive and punitive in his attitude to Carlos.
