The following people were concerned in the compilation of this Profile:
Diagnostician: Miss Claudia Lament Psychiatric Social Worker: Mrs Audrey Gavshon Educational Psychologist: Mr George Moran
Mother telephoned at the suggestion of another parent. She was concerned about Susan's bad school reports, and although she is the youngest in her class at school, her teachers do not consider letting her repeat a year as they feel ‘she is quite up to the work really’.
Susan often complains of aches and pains and mother has been called to school several times to take her home, ‘but she's eating her tea and jumping around as soon as she's at home’. Mother then volunteered the fact that she thinks Susan is very distressed over the parents’ divorce and father's plan to remarry shortly. Susan sees father regularly and has said to mother, ‘Why can't they [father and girlfriend] live with us?’
When mother was seen for her interviews, Susan's school-life was ‘deteriorating’ rapidly and there was seldom a day when mother was not called to fetch her sick child from school.
Susan's history from 3 1/2 years is so interwoven with her parents’ stormy separation and divorce that for clarification their story will be presented first.
