In January, Alex Holder took up a full-time position as Director of the Child and Adolescent Department of the Michael Balint Institute in Hamburg and relinquished the Editorship of the Bulletin. On behalf of the Editorial Committee I would like to express our appreciation of the innovations and organization he introduced into the Bulletin. I am pleased to say that the Editorial Board is to remain unchanged, and we shall continue to develop the Bulletin in the direction of providing broadly-based samples of the work from various quarters of the Clinic.
In addition to the theoretical and clinical contributions in the present issue we include a vignette which illustrates an innovative technical intervention with a chronically ill child. The educational side of the Clinic's work is illustrated in some observations of a deaf boy who was integrated into our Mother-Toddler Group and later into the Nursery School. Finally, Dr Yorke's review of Volume III of Walter Kaufmann's Discovering the Mind is here reprinted from a publication which is scarcely available to those of our readers living outside the United Kingdom.
