On the 75th Anniversary of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the Programme Committee chose the topic of structure to try to draw together some of the intellectual and clinical concerns in psychoanalysis over the past 25 years. The essays, in expanded form, are reproduced in this book together with a complementary section covering specialized areas of knowledge that have an interface with the discipline. There is a very wide spectrum of interest within the field and many, often conflicting, views are represented. The book is of special interest to those concerned both with advances in the field and with what some regard as an excessive emphasis on structure at the expense of dynamics and economics. Something for everybody.
