This Profile on a girl aged 6 was compiled and written in 1989. I have based it on a Social History taken here at the Centre, a School Report, a Psychological Evaluation administered by a psychologist, and on two Diagnostic Interviews which I held with Ruth.
Mrs W telephoned the Centre at the suggestion of a friend to whom Mrs W had confided her worries about her six-year-old daughter Ruth. Ruth's father had left the home when his daughter was two. Recently Ruth seems to have become very angry with her mother. She has difficulty in saying goodbye when her mother takes her to school.
Family Constellation
Ruth W: aged 6 years exactly
Mother: a textile designer, divorced from Mr W
Father: director of a pharmaceutical company
Siblings: Sara and Jonathan, twins aged 18, living in Israel
Mother: Mrs W is a pleasant woman in her forties. She is good looking and wears subdued but interesting clothes. She works as a textile designer, mainly from home. Her manner seems rather controlled but when she smiles her face lights up. She speaks warmly about Ruth and her difficulties and seems to be in touch with some of her own feelings. Despite this, I found a certain strain in the interview; Mrs W does not speak spontaneously and I had actively to ask questions, because she would give the required information and then fall silent.
