It is not the intention of Dr Jaime Stubrin to formulate a new watertight theory in this survey of important aspects of human sexuality in its many and varied forms. On the contrary, the author seeks to question final definitions or conclusive answers - as Joyce McDougall points out in her introduction. Dr Stubrin is well aware of the multiplicity of aetiological factors in those disorders and the breadth and open-mindedness of his discourse will appeal to many.
