The Chairman of the Program Committee, Dr. Ives Hendrick, is hard at work on the program for the annual meeting.
THE ANNUAL MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE HOTEL WINDSOR, MONTREAL, CANADA, FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, MAY 20, 21 and 22, 1949.
The program will be similar to the one at the 1948 meeting in Washington. The first day of the meeting will be devoted to meetings of the Executive Council, Board of Professional Standards, and Standing Committees. On Saturday, the second day, there will be morning and afternoon meetings of Discussion Groups. For Sunday there are scheduled scientific papers, reports of the Discussion Groups, the business meeting, and, at President-Elect Kaufman's discretion, an address by the incoming President. A dinner-dance will be held on either Saturday or Sunday evening.
This Program is expected to carry into effect many of the important suggestions made after last year's meeting. In general there will be fewer prepared papers at the Discussion Groups so that more spontaneous discussion will be made possible. And we hope that several of the contributors will come from the younger group. The number of Discussion Groups will be increased, so as to provide for a wider range of topics. Senior candidates will be permitted to attend. The final program for Discussion Groups at the Annual Meeting has not yet been defined, but tentatively continuation is anticipated of five of the six which were held in Washington, and two which were successfully organized at the Mid-winter Meeting, together with the formation of at least one new Discussion Group. These would accordingly include:
Group A. The Study of Social Issues.
Nathan W. Ackerman, Chairman
Group B. The Theory and Treatment of Schizophrenia.
Dexter M. Bullard, Chairman
Group C. Indications and Criteria for Child Analysis.
Erik Homburger Erikson, Chairman
