To the Editor:
A group of members of the American Psychological Association, trained in psychoanalysis and interested in psychoanalytically orientated research met informally at the 1948 meeting of the APA in Boston. The exchange of ideas proved so stimulating to the group that the participants decided to meet again last year in Denver. Further exploration showed that some thirty-two members of the APA — most of them Fellows of the Division of Clinical Psychology — felt they could benefit so much from continued association that they decided to give this group relative permanency.
These members of the Division of Clinical Psychology organized themselves as an interest group, calling itself the “Group of Psychoanalytic Psychologists.” They plan to hold regular informal meetings for members on the occasion of annual meetings of the APA.
Chairman of the group is Nevitt Sanford; other officers are Milton Wexler, Vice-Chairman; Bruno Bettelheim, Secretary; Isabelle Kendig, and Austin Wood, committee members. Psychoanalytically trained members of the APA interested in affiliation with this group may communicate with the Secretary for further details.
