The Midwinter Meetings of the American Psychoanalytic Association were held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, December 3-6, 1953. Abstracts of the Minutes of the Executive Council, Board on Professional Standards and the Business Meeting of the Members are published in this issue of the Bulletin. All members who desire to obtain copies of the official Minutes may do so by communicating with the Executive Secretary, Mr. John N. McVeigh, 36 West 44 Street, New York 36, N. Y.
The Executive Council met Thursday, December 3, 1953 for its Midwinter Meeting, with Dr. Ives Hendrick presiding and Dr. Richard L. Frank serving as Secretary.
The President was authorized to appoint a committee to consider amending the By-Laws to permit mail voting for officers of the Association, including Councilors-At-Large. This committee is to report at the May meeting.
The Executive Council considered the problem of privileged confidential communications. No official action has been taken by the other major psychiatric groups. An article on this problem is appearing in the American Journal of Psychiatry, and a chapter has been published in Wigmore on Evidence, Vol. VIII, page 802. It was the feeling of the Council that we remain actively interested in the problem but that we must leave useful action to the larger medical organizations.
