The meeting of the Executive Council was held Thursday, December 6, 1956, at Hotel Biltmore, New York, with Dr. William G. Barrett presiding and Dr. Douglas D. Bond serving as Secretary.
Among other items in Dr. Bond's report, the following are of general interest:
1Detroit Psychoanalytic Society
Under data of June 11, 1956 the Secretary sent a letter to Dr. Morton Barnett, President of the Detroit Psychoanalytic Society, outlining a plan for the disposition of the records of the former Detroit-Cleveland Institute. Dr. Barnett's reply was to the effect that he thought the best interests of the total Detroit situation would be served if the whole matter were held in abeyance for the present.
In subsequent discussion by the Council members, the suggestion was made that it would be very helpful to those Detroit students who later applied for membership in the American if their records were made available to the Membership Committee. No action was taken by the Council.
