The 78th Annual Meeting of the American Psychoanalytic Association was held at the Hyatt Regency Embarcardero Hotel, San Francisco, May 3–7, 1989. An abstract of the Business Meeting of Members, including reports of the Secretary of the Executive Council, the Treasurer of the Association, the Secretary of the Board on Professional Standards, and the Chairman of the Fund for Psychoanalytic Research is published in this issue of the Bulletin. Members who desire to obtain copies of the Official Minutes of any of these bodies may do so by communicating with the Administrative Director, Mrs. Helen Fischer, 309 East 49th Street, New York, NY 10017.
The Business Meeting of Members was held on Friday, May 5, 1989, at 8:30 a.m. with Dr. Homer Curtis, President, officiating and Dr. Austin Silber as Secretary.
Dr. Curtis introduced the members of the Executive Committee: Dr. George H. Allison, President-elect; Dr. Bernard L. Pacella, Treasurer; Dr. Austin Silber, Secretary; Dr. Justin Krent, Chairman of the Board on Professional Standards; and Dr. Morris L. Peltz, Secretary of the Board on Professional Standards. Dr. Sander Abend, incoming Secretary, was also present.
A motion was made, seconded, and carried to approve the Minutes of the December 16, 1988, Meeting of Members as published.
Dr. Austin Silber, Secretary, informed the membership of the deaths of the following members:
