Consultations.
The total number of attendances at the Clinic consultations during the year was 96 (52 M., 44 F.) as compared with 63 the previous year and 81 the
year before. The notable increase in attendances since the end of March, 1942, is largely to be explained by a comparative stabilization of war conditions in London and in particular the cessation of the blitz. The male applicants for treatment are either over 40 or in reserved occupations or exempted from service owing to disability. This may account for the increase in cases of severe functional disturbance, which, in turn, increases the number of 'patients advised'. There is also an increase in applications from women who have returned from evacuation and taken up new work in London. The decrease in attendances during the winter months was again influenced by black-out difficulties. In this connection it may be noted, however, that patients under treatment attended regularly in spite of black-out and traffic difficulties in winter.
