Dear Sir
When I received the Autumn 1989 issue of the British Journal of Psychotherapy and looked through it briefly about two months ago, I felt offended by The Psychotherapist's Creed printed on page 120. I started to write to you to say so, but decided to let it lie - I think because I didn't want to appear unduly touchy.
However, I have now read through the Journal from the beginning, and have again arrived at page 120: and again I feel offended. I feel that it is thoroughly inappropriate for the pages of a professional journal It may be clever, but in so far as this is because of its close verbal parallelism to the Christian Apostles' Creed, it is that which makes it particularly offensive.
I am sorry that this should be my first letter to you about the Journal, for I have welcomed it from the beginning and appreciate it.
Robert Rentoul
