This is a challenging and thought-provoking book. It has generated considerable controversy in political terms and its appearance is timely as it reflects the current debate taking place around the origins of male violence towards women and its relationship to wider concept of masculinity. Adam Jukes is a psychotherapist who has been involved, for the past five years, in the London Men's Centre which works with violent men. He has been one of the pioneers in this field and his work there forms the basis for the views outlined in the book.
