There has long been a gap in the International Library of Group Psychotherapy and Group Process of publications addressing extensively the subject of supervision. For any reader wishing to be acquainted with the training of group-analytic psychotherapists using the tripartite structure of personal therapy, theoretical seminars and supervision of practice, all pursued in the group setting, as experienced and practised by graduates of the London Institute of Group Analysis (IGA), then this is the book to buy.
Meg Sharpe was one of the first graduates of the IGA and for many years has been a well-respected training analyst and supervisor. This, together with a period as Chair of the Training Committee and experience of teaching the model to students abroad, especially in Norway, has given her a broad perspective and critical awareness of the many issues raised in supervision. In this book she has brought together a wealth of knowledge and reflection, theory and practice, questions and answers, and much more, by using lively contributions from teaching staff, practitioners and students.
