This is a deeply disappointing book. Trouble starts as early as the title. In the world of psychoanalysis, the cry of ‘Heresy!’ has been heard increasingly often since before World War I. Indeed the publishers might consider launching a whole series with this title in which only the name of the accused changed: starting, presumably, with Carl Gustav Jung. Failing that, we might wonder what is special about Sandor Rado. Is he so much more important and wicked than Ferenczi, or Adler, or Reich?
